It’s important to note that the government has already selected people for the upcoming Hajj through a draw. They have also given a chance to those who performed Hajj in the last 5 years to participate in the Hajj scheduled for June this year.
The government didn’t give more time to submit applications for the regular Hajj plan after December 22nd. However, if you’re applying through the Sponsorship Scheme, the deadline was extended until December 31st.
The government shared that they got more than 66,000 applications for the regular Hajj plan by last Friday. This means they will need to do a draw to decide who gets to go this year. There are around 180,000 seats for Hajj from Pakistan, but this includes seats for private Hajj operators too.
The authorities have introduced a Short Hajj package for pilgrims, and the Sponsorship Scheme is available for this year too.
Regarding the Long Hajj, it will take around 38-42 days with an 8-day stay in Medina. If you’re flying from the South region (Karachi and Sukkur), the cost is Rs 10,65,000. For those in other cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot, and Faisalabad, the cost is Rs 10,75,000.
For Sponsorship scheme applicants, the cost is $3765 for the South Region and $3800 for the North Region, and this is for those choosing the Long Hajj package.
For the Short Hajj package, regular Hajj applicants from the South region will pay Rs 11,40,000, while those from the North region will pay Rs 11,50,000. This Short Hajj program spans 20-25 days.
Under the Sponsorship Scheme, the cost for Short Hajj is $4015 USD for the South region and $4050 for the North region.
Despite the visible impact of inflation in the country, the government has sought the support of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to launch awareness campaigns. The aim is to encourage more applicants for the spiritual journey.
